Former schoolhouse fireplace
Photogrammetry model by local volunteers from Umm Qais as part of the Living Museum Umm Qais project.
Fireplace in the former schoolhouse (now a restaurant) of the Ottoman village of Umm Qais, Jordan
The fireplace is an example of the reuse of material from the ancient city of Gadara on which the later village of Umm Qais was situated. The fireplace uses plain and decorative carved stone blocks and reflects the earlier grecco-roman architecture in it’s form.
