The West Theatre of Gadara #UmmQais #Jordan, built in the 2nd Century using locally quarried grey basalt into the western slope acropolis at the southern end of the Cardo street and the Roman Terrace.
The auditorium (cavea) comprised 3 tiers of seating divided to wedge-shaped seating sections by steps to allow the audience in and out of their seats and had enough space for about 3000 people. The theatre collapsed during the earthquake in 749CE.
